Help.. Fuel Smells Empty Re: Help.. Fuel Smells

I know that I have heard stories about fuel smell in XJ-Ss. As far as I understood, a common problem in the 70s and 80s was that a joint in the fuel tank could start to leak which resulted in fuel odours inside the car and in the boot.
I think that Jaguar changed some design in the fueltanks because of this. I think that this was before 1992, so your car is a bit young for that problem.
However, if your car smells fuel inside the car and in the boot I would suspect the tank or something related to that.
Just an Idea, if you take the car for a drive stop and open the fuel cap, does it make a sound (over or underpressure in the tank)?
