Claying
Here are some piccies of my XJS after he was clayed.
You should clay if your paintwork does not feel smooth when clean, or you struggle to polish. You will notice when polishing hundreds of tiny little dots, and they wont go away no matter how much you polish. These are environmental contaminents that have built up over some time, mainly through not polishing or washing your car regularly (like my poor beast, who I dont think had been cleaned for months before I bought him!)
I used Meguiars clay kit, and love it! Just look at the difference!! Now polishing and waxing is soooo nice and so much easier to do!

There are some more piccies on my website here
There is still so much more to do on the cleaning front, thats not as clean as I want it, but I will post some more piccies one day once the interior is all put together and I can drive him somewhere nice to get some beautiful photos

Re: Claying
Mmm....those claying pictures on your web site look pretty good E-J. A good tip there. Something I think I'll have to try. Thanks.
I notice you have a rear spoiler on the boot. I presume this came with the car when you got it? Someone must have fitted that extra at some stage as it wouldn't have been a standard option at the time of manufacture?

Re: Claying
Thank you! I was very surprised at the difference, I wasnt sure what to expect so I am pleased I took the before and after piccies to show the difference!
As for the spoiler, am not entirely sure. I know it has the sports pack, so I wasnt sure if that was included? Either way I dont mind as I think I would have put one on anyway
Altho I would have had a TWR one as they are common to come by, I prefere this one as its much lower and more subtle than the TWR one.

Re: Claying
My Cheap Race car last summer was a 1992 XJS 4 litre facelift and it had sports pack and also the spoiler on the back so I think it was a factory option in those years.

Remember it Esta-Jane?
