Exhaust Section

Post  Facelift on Tue Oct 12, 2010 2:23 pm

Hello,

My exhaust is leaking and I need a new centre section, part no, CBC-8916.

Of course they're like hen's teeth to get now, and nowhere seems to have them.

I'll try Graham at Grubloogers but any other suggestions otherwise?

Thanks

Hmmm, off the top of my head (you have prob tried these?)
David Manners
SnG (think you mentioned this as they will be there spares day?)
Black Country Jag (although I havent heard all good from them)
Jaguar classic Parts
EuroJag
Just Jags (never used them myself I dont think)

any dealerships?

Or if you can miss the racing I am sure that there are people at Stoneleigh who may be able to help.

Or .... perhaps take the part to an exhaust place and maybe bit by bit you can build up a stainless steel exhaust as they can make exact matches but in SS so it wont rot!

Just an update to this post.

I still haven't fixed it!
I can't get the part anywhere, supppliers, dealers, anywhere.

I got fed up, took a step back, and left it as I could carry on driving the car and enjoying it.

An exhaust bandage and putty the day before MOT time back in June meant a pass but with an advisary.
I eventually got a centre section on ebay last month but alas, it was missing the intermediate silencer boxes. Apparently these have to come with it as a complete unit.

Am going to jack the car up next and remove the offending centre section and boxes to see what can be done without the restrictions of a car in situ on axle stands.

I should probably round things off on this post now.

I managed to get the replacement section + cat/silencer boxes together and fitted them last week.

I have done several hundred miles since with a quieter, smoother engine and am pleased to say that this particular problem is fixed for once and for all!
